Refinery 29/ Urban Outfitters party, LA

So this is a little late, but we went out to LA in May to set up a great event for Refinery 29 at Urban Outfitters' Space 15 Twenty. The event was both a designer "tag sale" and a massive party for the launch of Refinery's LA branch. There were great clothes, great food and booze, and great music provided by The Like. Here are some shots of our setup, for party shots check out Refinery's site.

Our latest Generra windows loosely inspired by
the "Where the wilds things are" pod/nests.

We found this nice little write up the other day on our
burglar themed install we did in the Vince stores here in the
city during NYCs Fashion Night Out. Read all about it.

Generra in MePa

We played with an old art school exercise called "Exquisite Corpse" to make a fun display for Generra's Washington St. store. The exercise was started by the surrealists as a way to collaborate and mix styles without letting preconceptions inform the artists' decisions.

We used a number of found images from neo-classical paintings to popular cartoons as well was our own drawings to make stacked, interchangeable figures for the windows.

Some digital mockups...

... and the installed view.

Jill Stuart Spring 2010

Just a fun display for Jill Stuart's soho store...

A little window screening + some printed lips = ???

I love it when a plan comes together.

The Wolf Form factory in Englewood NJ

There were exactly 4 people working at the factory, and one baby, and 2 dogs... and they make the best dress/suit forms in the world.

Before the visit we were a little annoyed at how little info was on their website; after the visit we loved them for it. It is really an adorable little business where they do things the same way they have for decades, and because they're the best, they don't have to change.

AAE plus CHINA

Sam and I ran into piles of amazing antique hardwoods.
It got us really excited about the idea of shipping a container of it back to the states in hopes of turning it into some beautiful furniture.

Great Portuguese architectural influence in Macau.

Even in the humid air is was always drying time.

Found these jars placed in front of, what looked like, an old
spice factory in Macau.

playing catch-up, part 1: Vince

Just to get up to date, here are some of the most recent projects we've worked on...

For a national roll-out display for the store Vince, we styled a mannequin's head in a few variations...

...printed them, and framed them...

...and sent them out to the stores.

Welcome to Aux Armes

It's spring, at least from a meteorological standpoint, and AAE is coming out of hibernation...

Aux Armes is a constantly evolving project that began simply with designing window displays and is currently involved in projects ranging from design store concepts to fashion presentation design, showroom production, and brand development.

Since a good portion of our work never sees the light of day (yes, our studio is currently below ground), we want to give an up to date window into the work we do, from inspiration to completion. Half the fun is the process after all.

So, welcome to Aux Armes.
